Harold Garcia of the Clearwater Threshers broke the Florida State League record by hitting safely in 37 consecutive games on July 4 2010. Clearwater was in Daytona to play the Cubs and I was lucky enough to be at the game to get a few shots of the actual hit. It is always pretty exciting to see history being made in baseball.

Charlotte Stone Crabs Vs Lakeland Flying Tigers 5-11-2010

I drove to Lakeland on Tuesday night to shoot the Flying Tigers and Stone Crabs for the Florida State League. There are no actual photo pits to shoot from at the stadium, but you can get some excellent shots from both the 1st and 3rd base sides especially in the afternoons. Which to me makes it worth the dive through Orlando

I only stayed at the game for about an hour and then I had to drive home to be at work the next day. Before I left I did see something a little different than I normally see while shooting from the end of the Tigers dugout. One of the players from the Flying Tigers got my attention and pointed to one of his teammates. I was kind of unsure what he was pointing to at first. Then I fiquered it out. A Dragonfly was catching a ride on Flying Tigers left fielder Chao-Ting Tangs hat.

Everybody in the dugout got a good laugh and I took few shots which must made the Dragon fly lose interest in the hat because he flew over and landed on my camera for about an inning. I guess that is one way to get good seats.

My cards from the Florida State League Top Prospect Set

AC.jpg

Today I thought I would mix things up a little bit and post my cards that were selected for the Florida State League Top Prospect set from this year. This was my first season shooting alongside Jerry Hale who has been with the Florida State League for the past 5 seasons.

SC.jpgJerry asked me after last season if I would be interested in helping
him out this year with the league. I took him up on the offer and had a
great time shooting for the FSL this year. I am already looking
forward to next year.

I was covering the Brevard County Manatees and Palm Beach Cardinals game at Space Coast Stadium in Viera, Florida when I was able to catch this great play at the plate. Zelous Wheeler barreled into catcher Paul Vazquez at home plate. Vazquez lost his glasses but not the ball and wheeler was tagged out at home for the 2nd time in the game. Below is a few more photos of Wheeler and Vazquez in action from this year.
